Making "Drone"

There is just one teensy little problem with this plan. It's so small it's not even worth mentioning, but ok. It turns out that this would not only be difficult to execute (after all, I'd have to figure out some way to smuggle the drone into the building to get it up to the observation deck, then fly it well enough in the gusty winds down there) but even if I were able to get the shot I'd be breaking a ton of laws. You are not allowed to fly a drone within some number of miles of an airport, especially Logan. The rules are simple: You can fly a drone anywhere you want so long as you keep it below 400 feet, except for the places where you aren't allowed to fly drones. This list of places is not well publicized and the rules are fairly ambiguous, as we will see later.

I was not willing to risk going to jail to take a picture of my kids. So this ruled out pretty much any interesting photo location in Boston – Faneuil Hall, Christian Science Center, Fenway Park. And in retrospect I have to admit that I'm glad that little quadricopters aren't flying all over those places.

So I decided I'd have to look at the suburbs.
